We had a really nice Valentine's weekend. Dan was busy at his last swim meet for the season most of the weekend, but the kids and I enjoyed time together playing, relaxing, and attempting to clean the house.
On Sunday we tried another new church, well the church is not new, just new to us. We are leaning towards that school for Megan for next year, and wanted to see what a Sunday mass was like. It was fine. I don't know that we will find a true home like we had at St. Mary's, but I think it will be ok. There is just no way to replicate the intimacy and family coziness of St. Mary's in these huge mega-churches, which seem to be the only churches/parishes surviving. And mass was a little longer than we are used to which only made the kids a little squirmier than I would have appreciated so we had to come home and take a time-out before resuming our fun activities.
We did venture out to see The Toothfairy. I thought it was cute (and of course there was the Rock-shirtless in 1 scene-yumm-o!), but the kids again gave it two thumbs down. I swear unless it is a movie they have seen a million times, they are just not interested. They hated Up as well when I took them this past summer!
On Monday we headed out to Rockford to an indoor waterpark with the Troyers thanks to Mimi and Papa. We had lots of fun, but were exhausted after only 2 hours. It took us a while to get the kids onto some of the slides, but as soon as we did they were off! They had so much fun! And Kate and I had fun on the big slides too! We managed to fight off the YMCA day camp kids for most of the day, but then we all petered out. We took the kids for a late lunch-early dinner to a McDonald's playland to let them burn off whatever remaining energy they may have had before heading home and dropping into our beds.
Weekends are so much fun, but sometimes so exhausting. Oh, and in between all this fun we have been watching lots of Olympic coverage. Ryan was really digging the luge-we glossed right over the fact that it really is very dangerous, even deadly! Both kids have been figure skating across the floor in dramatic poses. Fear not, participating in the Olympics will not really be in our future!
